Kopapa is really easy to get to from Covent Garden or Leceister Square, off St Martin’s Lane. This is important because that 3 minute walk will become a frequent thing! Kopapa is the sister restaurant of another one of our favourites – Providores in Marylebone – only Kopapa is a better choice for a morning meal, and it’s much easier to get a seat.

If you feel an anti-podean flavour here you’re not mistaken. ‘Kopapa’ is Maori for ‘a gathering, to be crowded’ (which it is). Peter Gordon’s exquisite taste and New Zealander influence runs through everything, from the coffee choice, to the freshness of the menu, to the boutique wine list (another highlight at Providores).

love you: Turkish Eggs. Turkish Eggs. Turkish Eggs. Do not order anything else, the granola is lovely but the Turkish Eggs here is, in our humble opinion, one of the best brunch dishes in London right now. Brunch runs until 4pm, and even in the middle of the day you won’t wait long for a seat, which is another welcome surprise given the location.

leave you: Though the spacious, clean and modern décor, with room to move around,  is an oasis in the middle of West London, it feels more kid-friendly than cosy. The service is sporadically good (well intentioned, but not always available). However all that fades into the background given the quality of the food.

All in all, Kopapa deserves the crowds, and by bringing some of the best brunch ideas from the other side of the world, made us proud little ex-pats.
